Another tech elsewhere told me I'd have to replace the power supply (would require opening the computer, possibly doing extensive work). I brought my laptop to Zeff, who took a look at it, tried a new cord -- and everything worked perfectly. He could have easily told me he needed to do more work, but I really appreciated his honesty.
